Storing the pizza and kebab you’re about to pick up at home is simple: you put the leftover food in the fridge as soon as you finish eating and don’t leave it on the table to wait. If you order a portion from Asemakatu 26, which doesn’t need to be eaten all at once, it will keep well for lunch or dinner. The hot portion cools down quickly, and from that moment onwards, you should act quickly.
The storage of the pizza and kebab to be picked up at home begins as soon as you arrive home
Take the food out of the packaging as soon as you get home and eat the portion you want hot first. Divide the rest into smaller portions before they get cold on the table. A small batch cools faster in the fridge than a large batch, and rapid cooling helps keep the food fresh. Food going into the fridge should not be left at room temperature for long. Find precise times and temperatures The Food Authority from instructions.
In a kebab dish, you separate the meat, the fresh vegetables, and the sauce. The lettuce, tomato, and cucumber soften if they are placed next to the meat and sauce. When you pack the ingredients separately, the meat stays juicy and the vegetables stay crispy. You can wrap the slices in foil to make a pita or roll. For us, a kebab is a generous portion, so the leftovers often suffice for another meal. The next day, you heat the meat and add the cold ingredients on top.
When you divide the leftovers into small plates and pack the kebabs separately, the food will still be edible tomorrow.
What will you order next?
Look through the menu for pizzas, kebabs and salads, and choose a portion that’s enough for tomorrow too.
Storage for the pizza to be picked up: this way the base stays crispy
Transfer the pizza slices to an airtight container or wrap them in baking paper and foil. The pizza box’s foil allows air to pass through, so the open pizza dries out in the fridge and the edges harden. Our pizza has a crispy and fat-free base, and you can get that crispy texture back with proper heating. If there are fresh toppings or sauce on the top, remove them before storing and add them only after heating.
Place the slices in the dish in one layer or place baking paper in between so the fillings don’t stick together. Write the date on the lid of the dish so you know what food is the oldest the next day. The same goes for keeping gluten-free pizza. If you eat both regular and gluten-free pizza at home, keep the plates separate and label them clearly.
Heating and a new meal: this is how food tastes good again
Heat the food until it is hot throughout the journey, not just on the surface. The oven or hot pan restores the pizza’s crust to its crunchiness, while the microwave softens it. The kebab meat warms evenly in the pan when you turn it over occasionally. Only heat the amount you eat, and don’t reheat the same portion repeatedly. Step-by-step instructions for the oven, the pan, and the air fryer can be found in our guide How to properly heat up pizza at home.
If the food has been sitting on the table for a long time or it looks or smells strange, throw it away. If you are unsure, check the instructions from the Finnish Food Safety Authority.
